This was my first poster, which came about quite by accident. I wanted to design an iconic image of Dr. Paul to plaster the internet with - one that would be easily recognizable and bold, but at the same time would portray Dr. Paul's trademark optimism. After several attempts, the image to the left is what I came up with. I plastered the internet with the images, and tried to get as many people as possible to put them up on their blogs & websites.
As it so happened, Ron Paul's official presidential campaign ended up using the image on a variety of campaign T-shirts and buttons. It is amazing to me how many people see and wore this design.
The poster came about completely by accident, when Chris at Hence Forth Press - a small letterpress printer near Seattle - contacted me and asked me if I wanted to do a run of posters. At the height of the campaign, I got 500 of the standard posters from Chris, as well as 100 with a blue background, and 100 with a blue background & red tie. I managed to give away and sell nearly all of them. (A few remain if the price is right :)
After this run sold out, I was looking to do another run of posters, but the letterpress option was just too expensive considering the excitement of the campaign was dying down. I looked for someone to silk screen some posters for me, thinking that would be cheaper, but I couldn't find anyone to do it!
So I decided to learn how to do it myself. And the rest, as they say, is history.
